India Taekwondo Association [ITA] is a national-level organization dedicated to the development, promotion and advancement of Taekwondo in India. The Association works in partnership with Taekwondo clubs, districts, state units, athletes, coaches, instructors and officials across the country.
ITA is committed to developing Taekwondo at the grassroots and amateur level, with particular emphasis on encouraging participation among children, young athletes, men and women in both urban and rural communities. The Association promotes regular training, competitions, coaching programmes, seminars, camps and athlete development activities to provide opportunities for practitioners at different levels of experience.
The Association conducts and supports national and regional Taekwondo compeitions and training programmes and facilitates the participation of Indian athletes, coaches and officials in international sporting events. ITA also works towards developing technical knowledge, coaching standards, officiating skills and a strong sporting culture among practitioners.
Through its activities, the Association aims to make Taekwondo more accessible to communities throughout India and to create pathways for talented athletes to progress from grassroots participation to competitive and international-level sport.
Aims and Objectives
- To promote and develop Taekwondo among men, women, boys and girls throughout India.
- To encourage grassroots and amateur participation in Taekwondo, including in rural and developing communities.
- To promote physical fitness, discipline, character development, self-confidence, self-defence and sportsmanship through Taekwondo.
- To organize competitions, coaching programmes, training camps, seminars and refresher programmes for athletes, coaches, instructors, referees and officials.
- To identify and develop talented athletes and provide opportunities for their progression in competitive Taekwondo.
- To encourage and facilitate participation of Indian athletes and officials in national and international Taekwondo events.
- To promote technical development and continuous education of coaches, instructors and officials.
- To cooperate with affiliated clubs, districts, state units and other sporting organizations for the continued development of Taekwondo in India.
