Congratulations to Dr. Karen Kramer.  On Saturday evening September 13, 2025 the Phoenix Group held a celebratory dinner to honor her accomplishments and to present her with her 7th degree certificate on behalf of our President Choi, Jung Hwa.

The dinner was well attended and many testimonials of the impact that Master Kramer has had on the lives of her students were given.

Master Kramer has been involved in Taekwon-Do since 1981.  She actually tested for 1st Dan in front of General Choi several other seniors in the USA.   In 1989 she formed Maum Sin Yong under which she continues to operate and grow her programs.

In the early 1990's Maum Sin Yong competed and sponsored tournaments with the Colorado Karate Association which was made up of independent martial arts schools including Korean, Chinese and Japanese schools within Colorado.  Master Kramer served as Secretary and Ratings Director for the Colorado Karate Board of Directors for many years.

When the introduction of mixed martial arts started changing the martial arts scene Master Kramer decided to come back to her Taekwon-Do roots.  She and her Maum Sin Yong family started attending Phoenix Group and Yomchi tournaments during the early 2010's and eventually officially joined the Phoenix Group in early 2015.  She was promoted to 6th Dan in  2016.

Since joining the Phoenix Group Maum Sin Yong has  participated in every World Championships since England in 2016.  They have attended Master Classes, IIC's, IUC's, ICC's and black belt retreats.  They sponsored an IIC, Black Belt class and Masters class in Colorado.  She has helped run the Phoenix Group's tournaments in Houston and has sponsored local Taekwon-Do tournaments in Colorado.

To this day after 44 years in the art she and her students remain active and contributing members to the Taekwon-Do.  It is an honor to see her promoted to the rank of 7th degree black belt (Master Instructor).
