Federation of Indian Taekwon-Do and its members, Taekwon-Do Dojang of Tamilnadu, Chennai,  Taekwon-Do Association of Kancheepuram and Smart Games Academy, Kancheepuram jointly organized this International and National Taekwon-Do Championship 2018 at Chennai at MOHAMED SATHAK COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE, SHOLINGANALLUR, CHENNAI, TAMILNADU, INDIA.
The Championship was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guests, Dr. Purushothaman, Vice Principal , Mohamed Sathak Arts and Science,Mr. K. Balasubramanian, Managing Trustee, M.N. Gayathiri Charities , Master Yogi Chand, VII, UK ITF, Sabum Najmudeen Safi, VI, Sabum Laxman Basnet, Nepal.
There were 223 participants from all over India and internationally from Nepal and Afghanistan.   From 2.00 pm. On 29th December 2018, first the Tuls competition started.  The colour belt  tuls competition divided in to two categories ie, from Yellow stripe to Blue Strip one category and the other category was  Blue Belt to Black stripe.  Black Belt tuls competition held separately.  The Tuls competition was held separately for both female and male participants.  There were seven age wise categories for Tuls Competition ie, under 7 years, under 10 years, under 13 years, under 15 years , under 18 years and above 18 years.
Public and parents are witnessed the beauty of ITF tuls and their wards skills on Taekwon-Do Tuls.  By 6.30 p.m the tuls competition completed and started sparring competitions for below 7 years and below 10 years boys and girls.     Boys and girls of this category energetically fought for their medals and the parents, supporters and friends of the competitors always with clapping hands,, encouraged by shouting like “ We want blue” “We want red”   which made the day exciting and emotional.
The competition came to an end for first day and with dinner the days event was closed.  We have arranged food for all competitors for breakfast, lunch and dinner which were liked by everyone.
Second Day of Championship, 30 December 2018 started sharply 9.30a.m.  First Black Belt sparring held for below 60 kg category.  The first sparring in the championship was held between India vs Afghanistan with great expectation and appreciation and all viewers surprised of the sparring skills of the participants.  Then, other categories were done one by one and the championship ended at 7.30 pm.
One minute silence maintained by all the participants and parents for the sudden demise of Sabum Chandrakanth Arora, Mathura, Uttarpradesh, India, who recently died in an accident.  He was one of the pillar of the ITF Taekwon-Do in India.
Then all officials, umpires, instructors were presented memento by Sabum Radhakrishnan, President, FIT and by Master Yogi Chand. All the winners received medals from Master Yogi Chand, Sabum Radhakrishnan, Sabum Laxman Basent, Sabum Najmudeen Safi, Sabum Vijay Sayal, Sabum T. Saravanan, Sabum Dr. Senthamarai Kannan, Sabum T. Yuvarani, Mr. Sethurajan, Mr. Syed Saifulla.
Sabum Laxman Basnet was the Director of this successful Championship.  We witnessed his vast experience in conducting the championship and we learnt more from Sabum Laxman Basnet. We also appreciate Sabum Vijay Sayal’s active participation as Umpire which helped to conduct the championship in a very professional manner.
I need to mention here that the active participation of Dr. T. Senthamarai Kannan and his team of black belts helped a lot for this successful Championship.
Finally as a memory of this Championship our President Sabum Radhakrishnan presented a Nataraja Idol  to Master Yogi Chand.
The presence of Master Yogi Chand for the two days were appreciated by the Instructors and participants and parents . Master updated many procedures and given suggestions to umpires and corrected when need were appreciated by all the stakeholders of this championship.
The two day championship came to its conclusion session very smoothly and Mr. T. Saravanan, the Organizer of this Championship and Master Class delivered Vote of Thanks  to all students, parents, volunteers, staff of the college, instructors, umpires and particularly to International Taekwondo Federation, UK, to Grand Master Trevor Nicholls and Master David Lau for sending Master Yogi Chand to this successful event.
