19th Apr 2006 MY THOUGHTS ON NIGERIA AND THE ITF
I have just returned from a trip that saw me travel to Ireland, Nigeria and then Egypt. I previously wrote about the success of the Master’s Seminar in Ireland and the sense of family that seems to always underscore an International event. Clearly, Master Choi is very fortunate to have an organization that believes in him and all that his father taught him. Likewise, the organization is fortunate to have a solid base of Master’s and Senior instructors that are adamant about preserving the art as developed by General Choi.

12th Apr 2006 What it means to be a Black Belt.
What does it mean to be a Black Belt? By definition the meaning of Black Belt is, “Opposite of white, therefore, signifying the maturity and proficiency in Taekwon-Do” (Gen. Choi Hong Hi, 1999, pp. 373). As any Black Belt would know, the journey towards gaining a Black Belt is a long and arduous undertaking, and every individual who undertakes this journey, will have their own perspective on what being a Black Belt really means.

20th Mar 2006 Taekwon-Do – It’s Really None of your Business
“Here are my fees, now give me my belt” is a phrase heard too often in the enterprise that is becoming Taekwon-Business. It would be a grave sin to reduce the art of Taekwon-Do to an industry, a profit-generating institute driven solely by demand. Yet, with the contemporary material-drive society this has almost become the norm, not only for Taekwon-Do, but also throughout a myriad of martial arts.
