KATHMANDU: Bhaktapur District Sports Development Committee and Vidhya Vikash Secondary Boarding School on Wednesday felicitated Taekwondo players Laxman Basnet and Sasman Basnet.  Along with sports photojournalist Rajendra KC and Coach Gyaji Khadka at Sports Journalist forum. Dasarath National Stadium, Tripureshor Kathmandu on 14th June 2017.

The organizers felicitated them with letters of appreciation during a program. The committee and school honored Laxman Basnet for winning bronze medal in the individual sparing event for men’s 64kg weight category of the 18th Adult, Senior and 13th Junior ITF World Taekwondo Championship held in Brighton England in July last year, while Sasman Basnet claimed silver medal in the boys’ 14-15yrs category’s colour belt event. They are father and son, Laxman Basnet is First international medalist of Nepal for ITF Taekwondo (he was won the Bronze Medal on 2004 Malaysian open ITF Championship)  

Similarly, Taekwndo ITF Nepal felicitated to photojournalist KC for his contributing as official photographers since five year in this organization.  And contributing since 10 years to promote Nepali sports as Photo journalist. Likewise coach Khadka was honored for his contribution as dedicated instructor in this organization scince10 years also he is the senior instructor of Vidhya Vikash School and Sasman Basnet was Student of this School.

Olympian Jeet Bahadur kc, vidhya vikash schools principals Suresh kumar Agrawal and pradeep chettri and Bhaktapur district sports development committee chairperson Dilip kc felicitated to them. Program Chief Guest Olympian Jeet Badhadur kc (had won Bronze medal in the First Asian Track and Field in Manila, Philippine 1973 which was first International Medal for Nepal in Nepali sport) told that there is very important role of society and government to produce players “It’s not easy to produce players. Parents, society and government help is required to sports.” said kc.

Laxman Basnet said in his speech that there is no age bar for practice Taekwondo and participating in the international level. For that just need positive feelings with positive energy and dedication.
