Nice work Kay!! I like the little add on "ok this is getting embarrassing now" lol.. I had a fairly embarrassing breaking mishap last year; I just wish I had it on video. I was trying a suspended break with a spinning hook kick, after about three attempts with each one getting faster I lost balance, took about three out of control steps back trying to stop myself from falling, fell on my backside then continued to slide across the smooth floor we train on. The momentum could not be stopped lol. It gave the class a good giggle anyway :)
I wish i'd have got wooden boards to break for that video now as i think they're easier to break sometimes. That black board was as stiff as anything. Don't think it gets used much! I can break 2 black boards with a front leg side kick with my own clubs boards. They vary so much. I LOVE breaking though. I think it's my favourite part of tkd. I've got matching bruises on both my forearms from the elbow breaks on that vid! I bruise real easily. The one break i don't like doing is turning kick,as i can't pull my toes back too well.
I'd love to step up my training for breaking when i come back after my surgery. Someone should run a breaking course like they do for patterns. ITF competition standard. Would be cool.
Maybe Master Nicholls could run one and teach us how to do that 10 board break!!!????
I remember when i was a green belt,i was practising reverse turning kick against a hanging bag and i spun round and the next thing i know,i'm on the floor in agony! I'd slipped and landed on my coccyx. Still gives me problems to this day.I got up and ppl were asking if i was ok, so of course, i said yes and tried to carry on, only to have to stop 5 mins later cus i was in tears from the pain and couldn't see!!! lol
Please take time to take a look at my friends website. She has just had the surgery i am having on Feb 16th. Her site is to raise awareness and funds for women in the USA who don't have the financial means to get screened for breast cancer.
Michele has made some video blogs of her journey so far and has just posted a video blog of her being 2 weeks post op. It's a very moving video and hits home to me what im facing in 9 days time, and over the rest of this year.........
