Sir,

I feel the same way. At 40 I am working on 4th Dan patterns and my kicks. Leg weights have been a bit of a blessing, but age isn't creeping up Its here to stay, LOL.

its funny to read senior members (in regard to age instead of grade) talking about preferring to do Taekwon-Do at 18 again.
i'm just past that age and i am already getting the clicks and pains from training!!

i'm dreading making to 30 at this rate, i'll be kicking from a chair if my knees keep playing up!
this is the beginning of something special

Mr. Wilson

But there is hope. I watched Master Nicholls break through 10 boards with a back kick, when all the younger bigger Gentlemen couldn't. I have watch Master Wheatley break through more concrete then I imagine a person could.

Very True Sir but there is something abnormal with the masters, they have superhuman power and abilities!!

on a serious note though i understand the theory of Dr Wolf's Law that the more and harder you hit, the stronger your bone structure becomes with more dense calcium layers being created but i feel like i am getting weaker!!

thanks again Dr Szostek, maybe i might be able to imitate those insane feats.
afterall, we are suppose to emulate those in front of us!
clearly, i've got a long way to go!!

In all seriousness, We can all kick still but I think the body slows gradually, At 18 the kicks are fluent but at 30 + we have to concerntrate to produce the same the younger generation do naturally.

I.e if you got a 30 year old and a 18 year old to throw kicks at the same time the younger one will probably be faster and look cleaner. The next time you watch a 30 plus senior guy and an 18 year old line up at class to spa watch the older one, He will be cunning and saving energy whilst the young will be like a machine gun. The senior will play tactics - Or at least thats what I do now days.

I can still produce good kicking ability all be it a bit slower and probably one of the most flexible guys around but as age has crept up now days I find when I do full block splits and side slits the joints feel achey after. : -(

Regards and have a happy easter all.

Ayyyyy all jokes aside do any of you over 30's feel stronger? I mean power wise as a funny thing when I was younger I could not break squat well one or two boards, Now however I have good breaking power. Maybe its because now I dont spar so much I work more on breaking and tuls.... What do you think or is it just me?

ps how yo get them funny faces they dont work on my pc :~)

They say the human body is in its prime come 30's!
I do feel fitter and faster, I train regular though and spar regular with Instructors in Dublin. My patterns are getting better too I think, but we must continuously strive to better ourselves, especially as instructors.

The smiley faces are in the tool bar Mr Snow, click on the 'respond' button when adding a reply which is situated on the bottom right hand corner of the post, when the box opens you'll see a smiley face, click on that and it gives you different options!

Clap yippee im 35 but after 20 minutes of 2 min rounds I am knackard and look like a car reck, I just aint got that staying pwer,

Ermm I remember when i was young  for comps 5 x 3 minutes stair running up and down, 100 turning and side kicks all me patterns then a three mile run, If i done that now days I would be on the floor after the stair running.

But I am wiser now, but sadly OLDER.... A Master once said the trick is always look at the world as a youngster and your mind will stay young.... So thats the secret.

Thanks about the faces...
